Aluminum Pyrometers

Aluminum pyrometers, infrared thermometers, measure the amount of infrared energy emitted by an object’s surface and convert this signal into a temperature value. While many factors affect the accuracy of the measurement, the most important consideration is choosing a sensor design that most effectively compensates for the emissivity characteristics of the surface being measured.

Features

Effective temperature measurement of “non-gray body” materials, such as aluminum, requires the use of a multi-wavelength sensor to compensate for the complex emissivity characteristics of these materials. For example, changes in the emissivity of aluminum occur with changes in alloying, surface oxidation, surface texture, surface contamination, and crystalline structure.

We have a unique line of proprietary pyrometers that use an entirely new approach to accurate temperature measurement. These proprietary pyrometers provide highly accurate, non-contact temperature measurement of the true emissivity of the target and intermediate values. These products are not sensitive to changes in emissivity or other target parameters and are not affected by intermediate conditions between the pyrometer and the target. As a result, our pyrometers are able to handle unstable targets and intermediate conditions commonly found in aluminum, indicating the target temperature with a high degree of accuracy.
